Zuoying -The Old Wall of Fongshan
The "Old Wall of Fongshan" was the first clay wall to be built in Kaohsiung. It was built in 1825 by magistrate Fung Chuan-suei, and is regarded as a first-class monument. There are three gates still standing, namely the Eastern, Southern, and Northern gates, and the remnants of the western gate for visitors to appreciate.
Lotus Pond
The famous scenic area on the northern outskirts of Kaohsiung City is noted for its profusion of temples, with the Confucius Temple at its northern edge and, in the south, the Dragon and Tiger Pagodas and the Spring and Autumn Pavilions. The lake is most beautiful in the late afternoon, when the setting sun is reflected in the water. Nearby are the ruins of the Fongshan County walls and gates, which have been designated a first-grade historic site.
Kaohsiung Confucius Temple
This temple is an immitation of the architectural style common during the Sung dynasty. Solemn and majestic, it is Taiwan's largest Confucian temple. Beside an arching bridge is a bronze relief of China's most influential philosopher. The temple is also the site of the annual Teachers' Day celebration held on September 28 in honor of the birthday of Confucius. To the east, you can see the jagged left side of Mt. Banping, which looks chopped off, rising up in the background.
Fo Guang Shan
Fo Guang Shan is famous for ancient and modern Buddhist culture. It is also known for education, charitable work, a pilgrimage location, and sightseeing of a Buddhist temple paradise.
Secondary Historical Site- Old railroad bridge
This bridge was designed by Japanese engineer, T. Iida. The bridge length is 1526 meters. The material used on the bridge was transported from Kaohsiung and Keelung Harbors using the railroad. After completion, it became the longest bridge in Asia.
